i noticed something funny yesterday when i was reading the 5th book. crookshanks and mundungus were described very similarly... both were bandylegged and had ginger hair (i need to get the quote). now, i'm not saying that crookshanks is really mundungus (j.k. rowling hinted that crookshanks was part kneazle way back when) but they might be connected somehow.
and wasn't podmore (sturgis podmore - in the order, went to azkaban) the last name of the ghost that wouldn't let nearly headless nick join the headless hunt?
and i read an interview j.k.rowling recently and she said something along the lines that we shouldn't dismiss snape as a bad guy just yet... so here's my new theory: the only reason snape is on the good side is because james saved his life... now remember, when harry saved pettigrew's life, dumbledore said that harry would be very thankful someday that he did that because now pettigrew is in his debt. well then snape would probably be in the same debt to james and since james died, he's in debt to harry, but that doesn't mean he has to like him -he's in debt against his will. as well, ginny mentions that bill doesn't like him "as if that settled it"
or i could just be reading waay too much into it because i have no life
i think that's it for now! ~R

DON'T LOOK AT THIS PAGE IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE 5TH BOOK cuz i'm about to ruin it for you!!!!!!!! alright, so it's been almost a month since i've read it, and i've gotta say it's my favourite! maybe it's because i've read the others way too many times to count and i've only read this one twice, but i love it!
harry isn't the noble little hero that never really gets mad and takes everything his life's given him - he's much more realistic now and i love it! but i can't believed she killed him! i loved sirius SO much!!!! aww, how could she??? it was so sad, while i was reading it i was hoping other characters i love would die so it couldn't be him! (though she did scare the hell out of me at the beginning when mrs. weasley saw the boggart as ron dead! i was like "how could you??? you promised he wouldn't die!!!!!!!")
what else? what's with ron and hermione not getting together yet? we're all just waiting for that to happen!! and although some people think it'll be harry and hermione after reading this book, i still stand by my claim that it'll be ron and hermione! and how great were ginny and neville in this book? they got so much better - i love them! and fred and george are great as usual! and i dislike snape a lot less now! whcih leads to james being a jerk at hogwarts - that was a surprise! i don't/didn't really care about that so much as sirius being mean too. i mean really, james is dead, i've moved on, but sirius was sitting there talking to harry and all i could remember was him tormenting poor greasy snape...
i miss sirius!!! i still can't get over it! so sad! and this is just the start of the deaths - i don't know if i can take more! but i cannot wait for the next book, i wanna read it NOW!
alright, i'm tired of rambling for now, i'm sure i'll have lots of free time to update the site more in the next couple of days - hope this was semi-coherent

There will be a major death in this one... she was not happy with writing it...
Here is the press release:
After months of feverish anticipation, author J.K. Rowling has completed the fifth book about young wizard Harry Potter, and it will be published in the United States, Canada, Britain and several other countries on June 21, her publishers said Wednesday.
At 768 pages, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is more than one-third longer than its predecessor, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," Britain's Bloomsbury Publishers said.
"We are thrilled to announce the publication date," chief executive Nigel Newton said in a joint statement with Barbara Marcus, president of Scholastic Children's Books, Rowling's U.S. publisher.
'"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is absolutely superb and will delight all J.K. Rowling's fans. She has written a brilliant and utterly compelling new adventure," Newton said.
When the book failed to make it into print last year, as expected, there was speculation that Rowling -- now one of Britain's richest women -- was suffering from writer's block. She denied it, but the book has had a far longer gestation period than its predecessors, published every year from 1997.
Fans will have to wait, because no details of the latest story have been revealed. But the publishers did let slip that the book begins, "The hottest day of the summer so far was drawing to a close and a drowsy silence lay over the large, square houses of Privet Drive. ...The only person left outside was a teenage boy who was lying flat on his back in a flowerbed outside number four." Later in the novel, J K Rowling writes: "Dumbledore lowered his hands and surveyed Harry through his half-moon glasses. It is time, he said, for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything. "
"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is more than 255,000 words compared to more than 191,000 words in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

what can i say? i have no life...
i remembered a part of the first book and i read it and i think harry potter will die at the end of the series (even though i don't want him to!)
we all know that j.k.rowling keeps telling people not to be too sure that he'll survive the 7 books, but i never took that seriously... well, in the first book, bane implies that harry potter's death in the movement of the planets and firenze says: "the planets have been read wrongly before now, even by centaurs. i hope this is one of those times."
no when i read that in book 1, i assumed that it had been read wrong because harry lives at the end of the book, but it may refer to the very end of the series... so centaurs read the skies and it says that harry potter will be killed by voldemort

hey! it's me again!
new rant/question: do animagi need wands to change? because sirius did not, but it seemed that wormtail did when he escaped from lupin/ron/etc...
andi summarized my hp rants from the front page below:
*why isn't veritaserum used in court? if they used it, innocent people would never go to azkaban and everyone would know for sure whether or not someone was guilty
*i cannot see hp2 alone, so i need to come back to see it with you guys or make friends and force them to go see it with me at university!
~Rachna
Hey!
ok, below is the supposed cover of book 5! i need it to come out now! i need my harry potter fix! aag!!!
alright, most of you heard my theory about the triumph in dumbledore's eyes being all about voldemort being mortal now, right? well if you don't and actually want to hear about it, ask me! i will give you page references!
and, deanne, agreed about the quirrell thing! snape is so very dead if he pretends to re-become a death eater!
umm... i read somewhere that harry will end up with someone who was in the first book (not hermione) so i think it'll be ginny!
oh, and i read j.k. rowling say that someone who has never done any magic will do some later in life and that is very unusual... i'm thinking petunia!
one final theory: dumbledore is harry's secret keeper only when he is at the dursleys! (because when someone changes location, you can't keep it a secret where he/she is!) so that's why he's safe there!
ok, that's it! i guess you can see i really need the next book to come out!!!

Recent Harry Potter News:
Ok, I was just playing around with my Harry Potter movie DVD, which is the greatest. You can all laugh at me, but it's still Harry Potter fun, even if they left out some scenes and stuff. Anyways, this DVD is the coolest thing ever. You travel all around Hogwarts collecting clues and then use them in the end to find the Philosopher's Stone. Your reward is the seven extra scenes, which I all think should have been in the movie, but the whole thing is worth it. So go get it!
That's all for now!
Deanne
Me again. I was just rereading my Harry Potter books for the zillionth time and trying to think about what may or may not happen in the fifth book and it occured to me that Voldemort does know for sure that Snape has changed sides. Voldemort says in the fourth book that he's pretty sure that one of the Death Eaters (meaning Snape) has changed to the side of good. But since Voldemort took up residence in Quirrell's body at the BEGINNING of book one and Snape and Quirrell had a number of confrontations after that, doesn't Voldemort know for sure that Snape is working against him? And since Snape has now gone to rejoin the Death Eaters, but he knew that Voldemort was in Quirrell's body, isn't that a bit like a suicide mission? Just a thought.
Anyways, in other news, JK Rowling recently got married to her boyfriend. That is so cool and I'm really happy for her. And Bloomsbury keeps saying different things but the most recent article I read said that they expect to publish Book 5 in 2002, not in 2003, which means we still have to wait at least 3 or 4 months, but at least it's semi-sooner. Also, the trailer for Chamber of Secrets is being released on the fourteenth, so we can see how the new characters are going to look. Entertainment Weekly (week of June 7) has an article on the second movie with lots of pics, so go check it out. I agree with some of the characters, but not all of them. And I still think that Oliver Wood is very cute!
There should hopefully be some new pics from the second movie up on this page, so take a look!
That's probably all for now, so have a lovely day!!
~D
Was it just me, or was the Harry Potter movie a letdown if you were looking forward to it for weeks? no dumbledore words of wisdom and no hermione figuring out the potions! and no charlie's friends picking up the dragon and firenze in the movie was nothing like the real firenze! ARGH! ok, i'm done-ish now! ~R Well, I liked the movie for what's it's worth. I mean, it took out a lot of parts but it's a good movie on it's own. I was bitter though, because they took out my favourite part which was when Hermione figured out the riddle to get Harry through the fire. But still, I liked the movie and would still go to see the second one, because it's still HARRY POTTER! Besides, it speeds up the time before the fifth book comes out! ~D Rumours! (they're all confirmed by Jo Rowling except for the Mrs. Norris one, which i did make up, but it makes perfect sense! the fleur one too, but i didn't make it up, i read it many places and it came to mind) ~Rachna *Book Five is called "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" *Crookshanks is a Kneazle (or at least part kneazle) *Arabella Figg is Mrs. Figg *Mrs. Norris is an animagus because she showed up on the Marauder's Map like Wormtail *A new Quidditch captain will be named; it's probably not Harry because J.K. Rowling said it would be someone unexpected... i'm hoping it's Fred! *Fleur might come and teach at Hogwarts *Lupin returns in the 5th book! *We learn more about Lily Potter in the 5th book! ~Rachna
*People claim that the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is a woman, and that she will be Arabella Figg (but I don't know if I buy that last part!) *The Order of the Phoenix may be the good counter to the Death Eaters. As in, they are are a group dedicated to eradicating evil. ~Deanna
