THE SWEET VALLEY PAGE This page hasn't been updated in forever, but feel free to read our rants about the ruination (if that's even a word) of Sweet Valley. I can't believe I'd ever say this but I haven't even read a Sweet Valley book in ages!! ~D
Same! i think it's been over a year! ~R
This is so going to be the Sweet Valley page, which you can make fun of all you want, but we still maintain that they are VERY GOOD BOOKS! (or at least something quick to read..) Anyways, enjoy and become enlightened in all things Sweet Valley. |

GUESS WHAT? you know how elizabeth was gonna go to england at the end of the last SVU book? well, apparantly she went there (and is there) and there is an england series or something... and jessica visits her there too and tries to persuade her to come back! find these books! NOW! The Ways They Screwed Up Sweet Valley High Senior Year 1. Obviously the first mistake was switching to senior year. Everything is wrong now, and they keep making major errors, so now Sweet Valley High and University don't even line up. I blame this on the earthquake that killed Olivia.~D I liked Olivia and she was so good for Ken. Now he's all depressed and dating Maria, which is wrong. Maria's such an integral character now, but she used to be very minor. i preferred it that way. also, she's now lost the confidence she used to have and has becom much too enid-like! ~R 2. After the earthquake, they introduced all these stupid characters. Like Melissa and Will. Those two deserve each other. Jeremy isn't so bad, but what's with changing Jade? I liked her the way she was. And they even changed her family situation, and the entire way she used to be. She might as well be a totally new person who just happens to be named Jade Wu. ~D Jade used to be a ballet dancing, A-student with a steady boyfriend and superstrict parents, Now she's a superficial, promiscuous partier who's parents split up for many, many years, and she lives with her mom who's her best friend! notice the difference? ~R 3. Words cannot express my hatred for Conner. What is with the new deal of making Elizabeth date all these slackers? They so don't deserve her. I think Conner should date, back in his other school. I don't mind Tia, but none of them should go to Sweet Valley High. ~D I don't mind Conner, but he's not Elizabeth's type. And I do like Tia, but she's not supposed to be cheerleading captain! ~R 4. The earthquake caused all sorts of confusion at school. Elizabeth and Jessica AREN'T the most popular girls in school anymore. It just isn't right. ~D Jessica's supposed to be captain of the cheerleading squad!!! ~R 5. One of the most annoying things is that Lila and Jessica aren't even friends anymore because Lila crossed to the dark side. They're friends still in university, so they have to remain friends now. Actually, they've been friends since Sweet Valley Kids and through Sweet Valley Twins. ~D OK, this is the one i cannot stand either! Lila and Jessica have ALWAYS been friends, sure they fought all the time, but they were there for each other when it really counted! And I must point out that when everyone thought Jessica cheated on her SATs, Lila was the only to believe her! The only one! Even Elizabeth didn't for a while! Stupid senior year and francine pascal! ~R 6. Even before the earthquake, Todd and Elizabeth got broken up by Devon. This is so wrong because they aren't supposed to break up until the beginning of university. This doesn't make any sense if they break up now. ~D Yeah, there were supposed to be together since their junior year! but they're not now! GRR! ~R 7. Another conflicting thing is the disappearance of Enid. She and Elizabeth HAVE to be friends in senior year, so they can grow apart in university and she can turn into Alexandra. ~D Another HUGE mistake! why did enid disappear off the face of the earth? i mean, we all know she's about as interesting as a shoelace, but she's gotta become a shallow slut, then an alcoholic, and then very likable! ~R 8. Mrs. Wakefield isn't even nice anymore. And I miss their split level. Also, where on earth is Prince Albert? ~D They better not've killed off Prince Albert... ~R I think I should get to write these books, so I can put everything right again! ~D I think I should! I know them just as well as you do! maybe even better! that's right deanne: maybe even better! ~R |

The Ways They Screwed Up Sweet Valley University 1. Todd and Elizabeth broke up. It should be perfectly obvious to everyone that Todd and Elizabeth are meant to be together forever. I still am angry over this, even though it happened in like book one! ~D If you read all those books about the generations of wakefield's (the legacies, one for each parent...) it mentions how elizabeth and todd have always meant to be together! SO KEEP THEM TOGETHER DAMNIT! ~R 2. Since we couldn't have Todd, they gave us Tom (I liked him, Rachna didn't). But then, stupidly, they caused TOM and Elizabeth to break up, so Elizabeth could chase after stupid slackers like Finn and Sam. No one wants to read that! Give us back Todd! ~D Once again, the whole sam situation is making it very soap opera-y! ~R 3. Now that Elizabeth is single again, we can't even get Todd back because he got turned into some bartender who drops out of school and gets all mean about it. Then he goes out with Dana, who is the reason that Tom and Elizabeth broke up. There just isn't any justice in this world! ~D And he's not even with Dana anymore and no one loves him! ~R 4. They pushed Isabella off a balcony. Isabella was one of the best people in the books and they gave her amnesia and sent her off to Switzerland. This caused Danny to drop out of SVU and practically drop off the planet, thus getting rid of two of the best characters ever! ~D I miss Isabella and Danny, they were the greatest. They were like, the first 2 friends Jessica made when she got to SVU and unlike most new characters, they were spectacular! ~R 5. Nick nearly got killed, which was bad enough. Then he got sent into the witness protection program and he also disappears from the books. He was Jessica's best boyfriend (after Sam in high school). Hasn't anyone noticed that all of her boyfriends tend to die or conveniently disappear? First Sam and Christian, then the professor and now Nick. This seems a little bit odd to me. Besides the point where Nick left was the start of the decline in SVU. It was good up until about book 25. ~D DEANNE! I pointed out that all of the guys Jessica actually loved died! NOT YOU! don't steal my credit woman! It seemed odd to ME, not you! And Nick didn't ACTUALLY die! but yes, Nick was great and i am getting sick of the authors getting rid of all the guys that are great for jessica and leaving the trash ~R 6. Noah drops out of the books with no explanation whatsoever. I personally LIKED Noah. And he was so good for Alexandra! ~D He just disappeared! hmph! ~R 7. "Apparently" Brian cheats on Nina, and he also disappears. This has pretty much eliminated all the good and interesting characters. Then Nina turns into a drunk, partying whore, which is so incredibly wrong. Now, Brian was great and the soap-y-ness of it all is getting to me! ~D 8. For new characters, they give us Chloe, who is the whiniest brat ever and Sam, who is no good whatsoever. He so does not deserve Elizabeth AT ALL! I like Neil, but I want my other characters back! ~D Sam = somewhat interesting but not worth anyone's time and Chloe there needs to get a spine and not be so damn shallow! ~R 9. They decide to send all the characters on a big road trip, in which they seal the nail in the coffin by introducing all the new characters (such as the evil Sam). Then to make matters worse, Elizabeth rejects BOTH Tom and Todd, eliminating any hopes of mine that she would go back to either of them. This turns Tom into an egotistical football star and I can't even like him anymore. ~D tom is not fun anymore! once elizabeth and danny (his 2 best friends) got out of his life became such a big jerk! ~R 10. Their next brilliant plan is to have Sam cheat on Elizabeth with JESSICA. If that isn't the stupidest idea in the world. As far as I know, this sends Elizabeth to England, and into one of those stupid little teen romance novels. I think it's safe to say that they have ruined SVU FOREVER! ~D ARGH! sweet valley has died and is now degrading and decomposing ~R |

Did you know that Francine Pascal has virtually nothing to do with the books? She doesn't write ANY of them. I think she just came up with the original idea or something stupid like that, but she gets ALL the credit. ~D AND, once she actually started writing the books, they've become terrible soap opera like things! all the favourite characteristics of the characters have been butchered! Like, before you respected Elizabeth because she had good judgement and was responsible, etc. and Jessica was great because she was so determined, confident, and would never give up! Now, Elizabeth's just a lovesick drag and Jessica is a boring, depressed nothing. ~R |
